James Westerman: Archeological exploration in Abydos, Egypt

"As an explorer, research historian, archeologist, engineer and physical scientist, I have dedicated much of my adult life to the pursuit of new knowledge. In particular, I searched for truth among the landscapes and monuments of antiquity. I strove to improve our understanding of human nature and civilization by more fully engaging the cultures of a long forgotten but still resonant past.

I have traveled to many archeological sites around the globe, but my work is mainly situated on two continents: Africa and South America.

In Africa I performed extensive archeological investigations in Abydos, Egypt, location of the Seti Temple, the Osireion and other significant monuments. My work in Egypt is the focus of this website.

In South America I performed archeological investigations in Machu Picchu, Peru, and published a book about my discoveries: The Meaning of Machu Picchu. The book postulates an explanation of why the Incas built this spectacular city high up in the Andes.

My investigations were triggered by epiphanies that made me feel intimately connected to these sacred sites. I felt a calling to explore and a certainty that there was much to be discovered. My convictions made me resilient in the face of obstacles - from the physical to the political - that impeded rapid progress. Fortunately because of my success in business and my supportive family, I was able to devote the time, energy and resources to investigations during three decades. My work continues with planning of further expeditions to each destination. My results speak for themselves."

"She drove thine enemies away, she averted seasons [of calamity], she recited formulae with the magical power of her mouth, [being] skilled of tongue and never halting for a word, being perfect in command and word. Isis the magician avenged her brother. She went about seeking him untiringly. She flew round and round over the earth uttering walling cries of grief,
and she did not alight on the ground until she had found him. She made light [to appear] from her feathers, she
made air to come into being by means of her two wings, and she cried out the death cries for her brother.
She made to rise up the helpless members of him whose heart was at rest,
she drew from him his essence, and she made therefrom an heir.
