The Egyptian Museum in Cairo contains the unique collection of Ancient Egyptian antiquities. The original collection was established in the late XIXth century by the one of the early pioneers of Egyptology - Auguste Mariette. Museum has 107 halls, filled with artifacts dating from the prehistoric times up to the Roman periods. The majority of collection is focused on the Pharaonic era. The museum houses approximately 160,000 objects covering 5,000 years of the Great Egyptian History.
