The City of Edfu, famous for its ancient Egyptian Temple of Horus, was visited several times by our expeditions. The photo-review, devoted to it can be found in our previous expedition photo report: "Egypt 2012. The Temple of Horus".

This time, we want to show our readers a new historical monument - the Pyramid of Edfu, located in five kilometers from the Temple of Horus.

The small Stepped Pyramid is located in the south of Egypt, near the ancient city of Edfu.

The existence of this Pyramid was known long ago, but its excavation began only in the year 2010. The Pyramid was covered with a thick layer of sand and debris.

The Pyramid is built of sandstone blocks, which were brought from the local quarry, discovered in 2011 in the 800 meters north from the Pyramid.

The original height of this Pyramid was 13 meters. Now it has three levels, with a total height of 5 meters. The base perimeter of the Pyramid is 18,4 × 18,6 m. According to archaeologists research, the age of the pyramids is about 4600 years.
